It's a cosy little village filled with flowers and bougainville, friendly people, and there are plenty of taverna's and a supermarket. The surrounding area is full of beaches, so quiet that they attract many nudists. The beach in front of the village Lendas is protected on the east from Cape Psamidomouri and on the West from the famous Cape Lion. This beach was the old port of Lendas, which has now been moved to Loutra. 2km to east. Lendas Beach is the busiest beach of the area, slightly organized and offering basic services such as umbrellas, showers, sunbeds and water sports. Moreover, beside the beach there are several taverns and rooms to rent. The trademark of the beach is its ducks, which stroll upside down. Moreover, the threatened Caretta caretta seaturtle lay its eggs on the beach of Lendas between May and September. If you want to stay secluded, you can visit the remote beaches of Dyskos to west and Loutra to east.
Compared to Kali Limenas or Tsoutsouros, both also difficult to reach villages in the south, it's more touristic. The town beach in Lentas Village is rather small but 10 - 15 minutes away on the east side you can find a very large, pretty and quiet beach.
See the photos and the video from the Naturalist club of Heraklion (www.fysi.gr) from the area of Lendas. We started our walk from Krotos village first by a dirt road and then by path to Trafoulas gorge. From the bottom of the gorge we reached the beach of Trachoulas.
