Malia is located 37 km east of Heraklion City. The main coastal highway to Agios Nikolaos-Sitia runs through Malia city, a bustling town full of tourist shops, hotels and restaurants.

This popular resort has some of the best holidays on offer anywhere in the Greek islands, mainly along the side road down towards the fabulous sandy beach, where there are more bars and discos than you could expect to visit in the course of a single holiday.

On the broad beach there are watersports to burn up more of that surplus energy and for a spot of culture, take a look at the site of the Minoan palace at Ancient Malia nearby. Malia can't be beaten when it comes to all-action holidays for the young and lively crowd by a terrific beach. 5 km to the east you will find the scenic fishing village Sissi.
