Analipsi is a small village situated between Hersonissos and Gouves in central Crete, 20km east of Heraklion city.  Analipsi is a well hidden gem on the island of Crete with only a few hotels and apartments available, this is the perfect holiday resort to get away from everything.

The village is easy reachable from the main national road, taking a left off the national highway and following the small winding road down past orange and lemon groves find you in the coastal village of Analipsi.

Analipsi being a Greek village first and foremost is filled with life all through the summer and winter.  The population of this small town is just over 1000 people and the welcome you receive is typically Cretan and friendly.

Although it’s officially a western suburb of Hersonissos in reality Anisarras is almost cut off from the main town. In recent years, due to it's proximity to Hersonissos tourist development has been quite heavy. Nevertheless Anissaras has retained it’s beauty and tranquillity. A long sandy beach extends many kilometres on either side and only a few kilometres to the south you will find the picturesque villages of Koutouloufari and Piskopiano.

In and around Anissaras there is plenty to do and see. For instance, you can go for a ride on a horse or a donkey to explore the area and you will find some beautiful paths for hiking.

Also the Cretan folklore museum "Lichnostatis" is located in Hersonissos. It shows a number of traditional and local exhibits and is an ideal place for receptions, inspired by the history of the island.

From Anissaras one can also visit the Lassithi plateau with it's numerous traditional villages and on the way there, the famous monastery of "Kera". Also on the plateau is the famous cave "Diktion Antron", a sanctuary in ancient times and where many believe that Zeus was born.

One should not forget of course the aquarium of Crete, "CretaAquarium" or "Thalasokosmos" situated in Gouves. This is the largest aquarium in the eastern Mediterranean and was officially opened in 2005. For many of its visitors a unique experience, a trip to the underwater world of the Mediterranean Sea and its creatures.

Finally for those who love water parks, the largest water amusement park on the island AquaPlus is located just a few minutes away. Here you are guaranteed to have a great day playing in the numerous pools and slides.
