Sights Traditional Villages .. in West Crete Koufi Village by Rethimno

Lately, a large number of houses and common use areas are being refurbished, showcasing the village’s traditional character. Inside and around the village there are many churches, country chapels and Venetian remains. Despite its isolated location, Koufi has become popular in recent years, as a result of the activities of the village’s cultural society in many areas. One of the spiritual children of Koufi is Yiannis Dalenzas, the great writer from Rethymno. Other villages in the closer area are Episkopi, Argiroupolis, Miriokefala, Vilandredo. 
About the village area:
Hiking with the Naturalist Club Heraklion (fysi.gr): Our course started from the green Argyroupolis in Rethymnon. We walked for a while in the area of ancient Lappa and Five Maidens. Then we went to the top of the village Kufi, where we started walking through the gorge of Petre, coming out on the Episkopi beach.
