The Sfaka gorge (or Koudoumas gorge) is located about one kilometer eastern from the Sfaka settlement in Lassithi Prefecture, East Crete. The access to its entrance is quite easy, since you can see it very clearly from the main road.

You can park nearby and you can follow a dirt road formed at the western side of the canyon, which leads you at the entrance. The main feature of the gorge is that the exit on the southern edge is a little bit subtle, but there are 5-6 ways out, which someone must discover by himself.

At this point you can struggle a bit, but if you persevere and you're quite adept at hiking, you'll quickly find a way to exit the gorge to the impending plateau. The simple alternative is to just get to that point and simply return it back. The total distance from the start to the southern edge of the gorge takes about 2 hours.

Once you exit the gorge, you will be at Sfaka plateau (or Monokara plateau), where the residents of Tourloti and Sfaka keep their agricultural and livestock activities. At the southern exit begins a stone path, which goes north and after 1.5 hours walking back to the village of Tourloti. From there you will return via the main asphalt road, where you left your car.
