Walking through the interior areas of Malia offers hikers the opportunity to enjoy the "other side" of the area: a side less well known that the highly publicized coastline. The rich natural environment of the inland areas offers hikers the opportunity to experience the many variations in terrain that mark the distinctive Cretan landscape. Hikers will encounter many evidences of the area's cultural and natural heritage: Lime kilns, sheep runs, threshing places, stone windmills, farm houses, dry stone walls stone water basins. etc Hikers can explore natural beauty in many forms, from areas forested by evergreen oak (Holm and Kermes oak) to streams bordered by plane and oak trees to grassy areas covered with shrubs and brush, to expanses of light forestation to bare rocky areas. Hiking trails also pass by and through cultivated areas including olive groves and authentic working farms.

When at Malia, stopped at their cafe and had some WONDERFUL SWEET ORANGE GREEK PIE. Have searched the net for a recipe and tried a couple and they were not it. Was wondering if anyone goes to the Malia site, if they could get a copy of their recipe or if the cafe would email me their recipe or tell me where I can find it-I would really appreciate it.
Plan on coming back in a couple of years to visit more sites.
Would appreciate any help you could give me, thanks
