Below the Argiroupolis village is an idyllic area, even on scorching summer days it is in the shade of the evergreens and is always refreshing - sign posted the springs of Argyroupolis. The village is 27 km south-west of the city of Rethymno and 5km far from Episkopi. As the name suggests the whole area is rich in water gushing spring water tumbles over rocks and stone everywhere in this fertile area with many chestnut and plane trees.

Today around five small traditional tavernas invite you for a meal in the shade of the trees and waterfalls. However, it is especially busy on Sundays and local holidays. So a visit during the week is advisable so get a better chance not to miss anything. Right next to the watersprings in Argiroupolis there are many nice restaurants where you can eat right next to the gentle flow of water.

Ayia Dynami', also called the 'Mills of the town', is rich in water running freely into pools from pipes in the wall. These wells supply the drinking water of Rethymnon. For many years there was a carpet laundry on this spot with mills that used to make the famous Greek rugs 'Flokarti', and its ruins still remain.
