Kaliotzina TavernaTaverna - Restaurant "Kalliotzina" in Makrigialos, Koutsouras, East Crete. By the seaside, right on the sand you can find "Kalliotzina" restaurant - tavern.

Here you can taste traditional recipes in a big variety. If you wish to get known to the Cretan Cuisine, then don't hesitate to look up the map and visit us. All the dishes are cooked in extra virgin olive oil which adds to them a special flavour.

 

 

Every Tuesday and Friday there is live music by notable artists of our area.

Koutsouras (Κουτσουράς) is a village in Lasithi prefecture, in East Crete, Greece 37 kilometers south west of Sitia and 21 kilometers east of Ierapetra. Its population is 818 (2001 est.) It is the headquarters of the municipality of Makrigialos (Dimos Makry Gialou) and the biggest village in the region. Key industries include agriculture and tourism. The coast is rocky and there are beautiful pebble beaches with crystal clear waters

We have heard about Taverna Kalliotzina "Καλλιοτζίνα" not only via Tripadvisor but also by some locals and we were not disappointed. The restaurant actually is not in the center of Koutsouras but just a little bit outside on the the way to Ierapetra. But you cannot miss it. We had a great lunch with Dakos (we love dakos), eggplant salad, and a delicious grilled fish. There were quite a few locals which is always a good sign. The view is just amazing and they even have tables on the beach but with the heat we had prefer some shadow and eating under the trees was a pure delight.

Amazing location on the peebles, excellent food cooked by a nice granma and a good looking owner. What more could you wish for? Oh! And cute shy hedgecock running on the beach! Stunning!!!

This is one of the greatest places to eat. the tables are literally under the trees and by the sea. The prices are very good and the food get oscar!

This place made our day! Perfect location just on the shore, really friendly staff, and the invitation to enter the kitchen and chose straight from the pots! Too many delicious options!! Ouzo for a start, raki and fresh peanuts as an offer to finish, and the Italian-Greek-English (and some German) speaking charming waiter as a plus to all the excellent food... perfect. Stop over whenever you can!

The location is excellent since you can eat right by the sea. The staff is very hospitable. The food is excellent, especially the goat with potatoes in the oven. We ate there twice and were both times very satisfied. The only problem is that in August it may be crowded and you may have to wait a while to be seated.

We were told Kalliotzina is one of the best taverns in the area (along with Cave of the Dragon) and it's probably true. Great greek salad, great ksygalo (local cheese), good goat meat in the oven with potatoes, all at an excellent location by the sea. Choose goat or lamb meats as they are they only local ones.

L'abbiamo vista per caso, un'entrata dalla strada che lasciava intravedere il cortile al aperto con i tavoli e le sedie rustiche. La posizione in riva al mare le donava un'atmosfera magica.
Cucina di terra e di mare cretese e greca, cibo ottimo. Il servizio purtroppo non era il migliore, il personale non parlava benissimo l'inglese, comunque disponibile.
Clientela mista, turisti stranieri come noi ma anche (apparentemente ) gli habituè locali. Serata animata dalla musica greca dal vivo.
