Approximately 4 km south of Malia, on the Malia-Krasi district road, is the spot known as Chamoprina (meaning "kermes oaks"). As the road winds uphill the landscape changes from cultivated countryside to woodland.

Myrtos (and Mirtos Beach) is a coastal village in the western part of the municipality of Ierapetra on the island of Crete, prefecture of Lasithi. It is located 15 km from Ierapetra, the most southern town of Europe and 50 km from Agios Nikolaos, on the road to Ano Viannos village.

Sitia refers both to the port town, with 9.400 inhabitants and to the municipality with around 21,000 inhabitants in 2001 in Lasithi, Crete. It lies to the east of Agios Nikolaos town and to the northeast of Ierapetra. Sitia port is on the Sea of Crete, which is a part of the Aegean Sea and is one of the economic centers of the Lasithi region.

The Faneromeni Dam is located near Timbaki city in Messara Plain, South Heraklion Prefecture. The construction of which was finished in 2005, has a capacity of 30Mm3. The size of this dam is larger that the natural recharge capacities of the watershed which is estimated at about 5Mm3.

During the 4th Crusade and after the fall of Constantinople in 1204, Crete was assigned to Boniface of Montferrat, who then sold the island to the Venetians. However, in 1266 Crete was occupied by the Genoan count of Malta Enrico Pescatore and the Genoans, the enemies of Venice, looted and destroyed the city. It took 8 years for Venice to regain control of the island.

Elafonissos island (and the well-known Elafonisi beach) located in the SouthWest tip of Crete, Chania Prefecture off the coast of African Tripoli, in a strange geographic appearance. A series of rocks and shallow waters make it possible to communicate with Crete, when the weather conditions permit.

From the little bay «Chomatistra», some 22km north of Agios Nikolaos Lassithi prefecture, begins the narrow and steep path that leads to the lighthouse. The secret treasure that lies a few kilometers southeast from Elafonissi, “Kedrodasos”, (cedar forest) is one of the few coastal forests in Greece. Kedrodasos forest is located in west Crete, Chania Prefecture and 78 km far from Chania City.
