Kalamokanias is located 57km southeast of Agios Nikolaos and 22km east of Ierapetra, on the west side of Makri Gialos settlement. It is located on the west side of the hill that rises behind the harbor area. It takes its name after the migratory bird stilt (Himantopus himantopus) that has red legs and body reminding of a miniature stork and stops in the local streams.

There are several pebbly coves along the road from Makrigialos to Kapsa Monastery and Goudouras. One of them is the Kapsa Beach close to Kapsa Monastery and Kapsa gorge.

The beach of Myrtos or Mirtos is a nice and rather quiet beach, sandy and in parts with pebbles, in front of the homonymous village at the southern coast of Crete, close to the borders of Heraklion prefecture. The beach is situated 51 kilometers far from Aghios Nicolaos at the South, 90 kilometers southeastern to Heraklion and 14,5 kilometers western to Ierapetra.

The beach of Sarikambos is located on the South Eastern coast of Crete, on the road between Ierapetra and Mirtos, just 2km far from the latter. This is a very peaceful location, although some traffic noise may be experienced by the cars (the beach is very close - 20m- to the road Ierapetra - Mirtos).

The Beach of Gra Ligia is located 6km west of Ierapetra city and 8km east of Mirtos coastal village. The distance from Agios Nikolaos city is 40km

Chrissi is a relatively small, exotic island, a tiny paradise, 8 miles or 13km south of Ierapetra city. Here you see, a very small part of the most popular among the many beautiful beaches of the island. Golden Beach lies on the northern coast of Chrissi island and it is called also Belegrina beach.

Amoudi is as small and protected beach 5km east from Makrigialos (or Makrys Gialos), East Crete and 6km west from Goudouras village. The distance from Agios Nikolaos is 66km and 29km from Ierapetra.

Mikri Poli are 2 small beaches in Lassithi prefecture, 1km east from Makrigialos, East Crete and 35km from Sitia city. The distance from Agios Nikolaos is 62km and 26km from Ierapetra.
