This town is situated 15 km west of Agios Nikolaos, in the lash basin of the Mirabello province. During the Venetian occupation it consisted of two settlements which were referred to as a unit dy the name " Kenourio Chorio" (New Village). The settlements retained the name until 1868 when the governor of Lassithi, Kostis Adosides Pasha, transferred there the seat of the country from Kastelli and renamed the two settlements Neapolis (New Town).

Koutsounari is a village some 8 km east of Ierapetra, Lasithi, the easternmost of the four prefectures on the island of Crete, Greece. The village itself is sits a little up the hill, at the foot of cliffs, a short distance back from the shoreline of cristal-clear waters and endless beaches interspersed with secluded rocky coves.

Pachia Ammos is located 15km to the north of Ierapetra, on the crossing of the road that leads to Heraklio (to the west) and to Sitia (to the east). Includes settlements of Pachia Ammos, Monastiraki, Vasiliki.

Makrigialos or Makrys Gialos Village: A few years ago Makrigialos was a little harbour with a few storehouses. The local people (who in that time used to live in the surrounding villages in and around the mountains) used to store up and then, export their goods, like olive oil, wine, raki, sultanas, carobs beans, corn, and live animals.

Ierapetra, Eastern Crete. Ierapetra (Greek: Ιεράπετρα, meaning Holy Stone, ancient name Hierapytna) is a municipality and a town in the east of the Greek island of Crete, in the prefecture of Lasithi.

The municipality has an area of 394.774 square kilometres and a population of 23,707 (2001). The municipality consists of the town of Ierapetra, several villages and hamlets and the island of Chrissi.

Myrtos or Mirtos Village eastern Crete. Myrtos is a coastal village in the west of the municipality of Ierapetra in the prefecture of Lasithi on the island of Crete in Greece.

It is located 14.5 km from Ierapetra and 50.5 km from Agios Nikolaos, on the road to Viannos.

Having the distinction of being the southernmost town facing the African coast, Ierapetra enjoys the smoothest, almost rainless weather in Europe, with a temperature that rarely drops below 12 C all year long!

No doubt, Ierapetra  the bridge of the Libyan sea is the sunniest holiday resort in Europe.
