Orino Butterfly gorgeThe gorge of "Milonas" with small water falls is not easily accessible. The gorge is located 7 km east of Ierapetra city and 12 km west of Makrigialos coastal village. In the middle of the road from the traditional Village of Agios Ioannis towards Schinokapsala, you cross the forest of "Psihro" hamlet with springs, platans, pine and other trees.

Havgas gorge by Lassithi plateauHavgas Gorge is an amazing gorge of rare natural beauty, the unique gorge in Lassithi Plateau. Hiking in the gorge is difficult even for experienced climbers. The gorge carries water from Katharo Plateau to Lassithi Plateau. It is located between the peaks of Katharios Lakkos (1197 m) and Kefala (1269 m). Its length is about 3-4 km and in some places the sides rise almost vertically to a great height. You reach the Lassithi plateau from Tzermiado village and Katharo plateau from Kritsa Village.

Sarakina gorge by Mirtos Mithi, East Crete Print E-mail

Sarakina Gorge16km west of Ierapetra is located the traditional village of Mythi or Mithi. In a short distance from the village, the small Sarakina Gorge starts, which ends near the coastal village Mirtos.

The length of the canyon reaches 1.5km and its width ranges from 3 to 10 meters, with only a few points exceeding that. The walls reach a height of 150m, making this narrow gorge very impressive. In the gorge, Kryopotamos river is flowing all over the year.

Adravasti gorgeAdravasti gorge: It is the most unknown gorge of Palekastro region. Its exit is just 1 km north from Adravasti village or 3 kms away from Zakros.

There are two ways to cross it. The one is from Karidi village and the other one is from Vrisidi or Magassa settlement. The quickest way to reach Karydi village is a new asphalt road that starts from Adravasti village.

The best way to start walking the gorge is from Pefki village, which is 7 kms far from Makri Gialos. There is a clear-sighted path. The only difficulty you may face is to be informed by the inhabitants of Pefki village for the exact entrance of the gorge.
