Amoudara is a relatively small beach situated 5 km to the south of Agios Nikolaos town, on the road to Sitia-Ierapetra. It is actually a bay and therefore not affected by the summer winds that blow so often on the Greek islands. Both the seashore and the seafloor are sandy and the waters are clear.

Pachia Ammos is a sandy beach located 20km southeast from Agios Nikolaos city and 15km north of Ierapetra. It is suitable for safe and relaxing swimming as the beach is protected from the winds by a small port. It is organized with deck chairs and sun shades available for rent. There are many accommodation facilities, such as hotels and rooms for rent, and fish taverns with fresh fish dishes in the nearby area.

The beach of Fodele is situated 3 kilometres far from the homonymous picturesque Fodele village at the North, and 23 kilometres far from Heraklion (via the National Road) at the West, some 1000 metres off the National Road Heraklion-Rethymno.

This lovely beach is located in Agia Pelagia and 27 km west from Heraklion City . If, from the main beach Agia Pelagia beach, you walk passed Capsis Hotel and continue in that direction, you will eventually end up at the beach of Mononaftis beach.

The beach of Psaromoura is a small beach to the west of the main Agia Pelagia beach and 27 km far from Heraklion City. This beach is more favoured by the locals more than the tourists.

Just west of the main Agia Pelagia beach and 27 km from Heraklion City lies the beach of Kladissos. This beach is ideal for those who want to avoid the summer crowds found in the central Agia Pelagia beach and in the other surrounding beaches.

Just 1km east of the main Agia Pelagia beach and 25 km from Heraklion City, lies the beach of Ligaria. This bay is sheltered by rocks and it is a great place for snorkeling.

Directly down the valley where Episkopi village is situated, on 2 kilometers distance from the village is the start of Episkopi Beach, which stretches all the way to Kavros or Kournas beach and Georgioupolis at the end. It is a sandy and wide beach that is 10 kilometers long.

Malia is located 37 km east of Heraklion City. The main coastal highway to Agios Nikolaos-Sitia runs through Malia city, a bustling town full of tourist shops, hotels and restaurants.

Tobrouk is a famous beach 10 km east of Heraklion town, on the road that leads towards Agios Nikolaos, Lasithi.
