Aghios Pavlos Samaria old-Christian chapel temple: This is another sample of the Greek cross plan design often used during the 11th century A.D. It is located by Agios Pavlos Beach 4km east of the southern end of Samaria gorge and Agia Roumeli coastel village.

The murals painted in the internal walls date from the 13th century. The temple's walls contain building materials from ancient structures; the fact serves as an indication that the site was home to an ancient temple.

Tarra or Tarrha was an ancient city of western Crete, near Samaria Gorge, at Agia Roumeli village. It is near the sea, on the hill, on the left bank of the stream bank. It was probably established in the Classical period and was very important religious centre. The city flourished in the Greco-Roman period. There was the cult of Apollo Tarraios. There were found parts of his temple. Tarra in frequently cited in the ancient sources.

Elyros ("Έλυρος" in Greek) is an ancient city, located in southwest Crete, in Kefala Hill, near the village Rodovani, 9km before the caostal village of Sougia, and is presently unexcavated. Elyros was flourishing at least as early as the Greek Classical Period, e.g. 500 to 350 BC.

Yrtakina (Greek Υρτακίνα) was an ancient city in south-west Crete. The city was located between the existing villages Temenia and Papadiana, on Kastri hill, where the ruins of the city are situated.

Phalasarna or Falassarna (see also Phalassarna beach) - (Greek: Φαλάσαρνα) is an ancient Greek harbor town on the northwest coast of Crete. The currently visible remains of the city were built around 335 BCE and include several imposing sandstone towers and bastions, with hundreds of meters of fortification walls protecting the town and a closed harbor.

Archaeological site of Anopolis: The archaeological site covers a large area and is surrounded by fortified walls. It includes the foundations of several houses, a large basin and probably the foundations of a big temple.

Souda is the name of the small island that stands like a guard in the entrance of the gulf of Souda, on the north coast of the Chania prefecture in Crete. The construction of the fortress started in 1573 by the Venetians, in an effort to reinforce the defense of the port. The architect and supervisor of the constructions was Latino Orsini.
