Amoudara is a relatively small beach situated 5 km to the south of Agios Nikolaos town, on the road to Sitia-Ierapetra. It is actually a bay and therefore not affected by the summer winds that blow so often on the Greek islands. Both the seashore and the seafloor are sandy and the waters are clear.

The second bay of Istron village is located 500m east of the village very close to the main road from Agios Nikolaos city to Sitia - Ierapetra area. Here is one of the most beautiful beaches of Greece, which is featured in many card postals of Crete.

Drapanias is sandy and organized beach 4km far from the village of Drapanias, with a few cafes and tavernas. Drapanias beach is placed 35 km to the west of Chania town.

Mavros Kolimbos is a tiny village and a beach (village is a large word to decribe it) on the south east coast of the island of Crete between Makrigialos and Achlia Beach, a little east of the town of Ierapetra (18 kilometer).

Pachia Ammos is a sandy beach located 20km southeast from Agios Nikolaos city and 15km north of Ierapetra. It is suitable for safe and relaxing swimming as the beach is protected from the winds by a small port. It is organized with deck chairs and sun shades available for rent. There are many accommodation facilities, such as hotels and rooms for rent, and fish taverns with fresh fish dishes in the nearby area.

This magical uninhabited island is just 18km from the resort of Makrigialos, Makrygialos, Makriyalos, on the south east coast of Crete, close to Goudouras (7km). This island can be reached by boat from Makrigialos Harbour daily throughout the summer from about the middle of May, weather permitting.

There are some remains of roman and minoan civilisation on the island.
